Shiel hails from Highmoon where he has lived with his foster father, Bort Greymane, a veteran.
It was Bort who carried the 12 year-old Shiel who was severely injured and suffering with a high fever from the region of Myth Drannor to a nearby village to healer and barely saved the half-elf’s life.
After two months Bort took Shiel to high home in the city of Highmoon. The fever and the severe trauma which Shiel had suffered caused amnesia, Shiel cannot remember anything which has happened before.
Bort raised Shiel as a replacement for the son which he never had and taught him how to fight. Shiel displayed a good aptitude and even a talent for psionic abilities like insanely quick movements which didn’t seem to unnerve Bort in the least.
The townfolk attributed that to Shiel’s elvish (probably Eladrin) part.
Questions about his past were always answered by the stoic Bort, “When you’re old enough.”, that he had promised Shiel’s mother.
But it was never meant to happen. When a troup of Zhentarim attacked Highmoon, Bort rushed to the defense where he was eventually killed by an arrow.
Since this time Shiel travels through the Dalelands in Bort’s a bit too big armor trying to help a small group of rebels resist the invaders and slave hunters.
Until now he’s had a few little successes…..
